On the last Sunday of every month there is a chance to brush up on your own skills and learn new ones. Usually, there is a chance to help out in the wood itself planting young trees, building new boardwalks or repairing old dyke walls. There’s always something to be done. All year round, volunteers work on improvements and woodland management.

2008 ACTIVITIES PROGRAMME

All events are on Sundays starting at 11am unless stated otherwse (Please check the website calendar near the event for more detail)

Beating the Bounds, Sunday 27th January.
It has become part of our annual tradition to take a walk around the different parts of the woods early in the New Year.
Most of us are fixed in our habits and seem to frequent our favourite places at Wooplaw so this is a great opportunity to remind ourselves of those various areas which we don't get to.
It's also a good opportunity to meet up with other members and volunteers.
We'll set off at 10 from the log cabin.

Tree Pruning at Gullet Wood - Sunday 17th February
Previously planned for the 3rd but re-arranged for today.
Bring your loppers, secateurs or pruning saws and put them to good use.

Bodging - June 28th and 29th
2 days of green woodworking and other crafts
On the Saturday we'll start making pole-lathes and shaving horses. You can even try carving a spoon. Any other craft-people are more than welcome just let me know you're coming.

Wild in the Woods - Sunday 27th July
Families are invited to have a go at living wild for the day. Build a woodland den using local natural materials, try your hand at some woodland survival skills and traditional crafts.
All children must be accompanied by an adult. Free but booking is essential.
